MEET THE BOARD
SRHC BOARD – 2026 / 2027
John Crofts
PRESIDENT
John joined SRHC in August 2019 and has been President since December of that year. Originally from Melbourne, John spent 25 years overseas in his executive management career with BHP. He was also Executive Vice President Commercial for Aurizon in 2012/13. John is a lifelong Victorian Railways enthusiast and regards leading the strategic stewardship of SRHC and building board capability as his most critical tasks.
Matt Tennant
VICE PRESIDENT
Matt is a proud father of 3 and is Managing Director of the railway maintenance company, TENEX Rail. He is a life long Seymour resident with a passion for trucks, classic cars and the rail industry as a whole.
Max Michell
SECRETARY
Max is a native of Canberra with some attachment to Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Toronto NSW and Melbourne. Trains have been a big part of his life from childhood. Six decades working in rail has been followed by a life of volunteering at SRHC, with activities from restoration work, organising rail trips to a number of years as Vice President and now Secretary. Other interests include bushwalking in Australia, Europe and Asia.
Barbara Moss
TREASURER
Barbara commenced volunteering at SRHC in 2021 when seeking a challenge after retiring from a senior management position in Community Health. She joined the board in 2022 as Treasurer and also volunteers in many areas for SRHC. Barbara is a keen train traveller and has many other interests including gardening, bushwalking and cleaning native seeds at the local indigenous seedbank.
Ian Kemp
BOARD MEMBER
Ian started on the Victorian Railways as an apprentice fitter and turner in 1969. After reaching foreman status he had the opportunity to run his own depot – Seymour Loco. This is where the dream of restoring J515 came about. After the Seymour Loco was closed Ian transferred back to South Dynon in 1999. Ian retired in 2021 after 52 years of service to the railways. Ian now oversees rollingstock maintenance at SRHC which he helped form in 1983. Ian was the founding President and is the first lifetime member. Ian is married with three children.
Richard Boyce
BOARD MEMBER
Richard grew up in Gunnedah, Northwest New South Wales. He spent much of his childhood on trains such as the Northern Tablelands Express, cementing a lasting love of rail travel. Having worked in a variety of roles, mostly within the cruise industry, he initiated the idea of running heritage rail tours with a well known travel company in 2016. Today he is a product manager for Railway Adventures and is regularly aboard SRHC trains, often used as part of the tours he arranges.
Aaron Malcolm
BOARD MEMBER
Since joining SRHC Aaron has enjoyed volunteering in various aspects of the organisation. Aaron has always had has a passion for the rail industry and enjoys contributing to improve SRHC, joining the board at the end of 2024. Aaron is an airline captain with a major Australian airline. He also manages the quality assurance program for the airlines flight operations department and is a training captain.
Michael Delaney
BOARD MEMBER
Mick joined the SRHC in 2017 interested in the restoration of the Victorian Railway rollingstock with his trade’s skills. This interest was created by being brought up in a railway family and enjoying many train excursions throughout Victoria. These fond memories of travelling in the rollingstock that we now maintain and preserve. He is interested in bike riding and bushwalking in the North East region whilst supporting the SRHC Engineering and Operations group.
Chris Naldrett
BOARD MEMBER
Chris is an experienced safety, governance and assurance professional who began his rail career in Perth with Pacific National before going on to hold roles with Metro Trains Melbourne and SCT Logistics. He has a strong background in rail operations, risk management and management systems, with practical expertise in safety management system development, regulatory compliance, audit and assurance, contractor governance and organisational improvement. Chris supports SRHC with a focus on building a simple, workable and credible safety framework that helps protect volunteers, workers, visitors and railway operations while supporting the long-term future of the organisation.

The Seymour Railway Heritage Centre would like to confirm, that locomotive S 303, T 357 and P 22 will be on the train alongside our 1937 Steel Bodied Air Conditioned Carriages with the Parlor Observation Car at the rear.
S303
S303 was named “C J Latrobe” after the first Governor of Victoria. It was built in 1957 by Clyde Engineering in Sydney for express interstate freight and passenger trains. The stylish S class consisted of 18 locomotives and were at the head of famed trains such as the ‘Spirit of Progress’, the ‘Southern Aurora’ and the ‘Overland’. S303 was converted from broad to standard gauge in 2021.
Parlor Car
The Seymour Railway Heritage Centre would like to confirm, that locomotive S 303, T 357 and P 22 will be on the train alongside our 1937 Steel Bodied Air Conditioned Carriages with the Parlor Observation Car at the rear.
T357
T357 is an 875 hp branch line locomotive built by Clyde Engineering in 1961. This reliable member of the SRHC fleet was originally on standard gauge and spent most of its life on the broad-gauge system going to every corner of Victoria. It was converted back to standard gauge in 2018.

Seymour Railway Heritage Centre offers optional tours for anyone who like to
experience more of the Goulburn Valley.
Day 1
Board your heritage train as we start to traverse our way to Goulburn, crossing the vast plains before crossing the Murray River as we enter Albury, New South Wales.
We will call at Junee, for a short time to enjoy some refreshments in the Junee Refreshment Rooms before a evening sprint to Goulburn.

Day 2
After breakfast, coaches will transfer you back to Murtoa to rejoin the train. Today we will explore the little used Hopetoun Branch, which is used only for freight services. We will stop to take in the silo art at Brim then continue to the historic town of Beulah.
Beulah shot to fame in 2020 as the location for the film ‘The Dry’, starring Eric Bana. Situated on the banks of the Yarriambiack Creek, stop in for a counter meal or drink at the historic 19th-century Victoria Hotel, and strike up a conversation with the locals at the bar. A number of the town’s residents came on board the film as extras and are sure to have some stories to tell.
This afternoon we will stop at sheep Hills for more silo art, then briefly at Murtoa to embark any passengers who have elected not to join us this morning. Enjoy a light meal onboard as our train commences its sprint back across the plains towards Melbourne and Seymour after a fascinating weekend in the Wimmera.
