Come and experience the spectacular natural beauty of Victoria on board our wonderfully restored vintage carriages. When you're on this tour, you'll feel like you're part of a bygone era of the Golden Age of Rail Travel as you'll enjoy the most scenic parts of our state.
Set out on an exciting journey through awe-inspiring landscapes and whilst we pass by a number of charming towns along the way, heading to our destination.
The Homecoming - S307
22 April 2023 – (SG)(D)
Be a part of Victorian Railways history as Seymour Railway Heritage Centre
welcomes home locomotive S307. The locomotive, one of 18 in the S class, was built by Clyde Engineering in Granville, NSW, and entered service for the Victorian Railways on 10 December 1957.
Joins us for this historical day out as we head for Laverton yard to take delivery of the locomotive and officially welcome it to our fleet.

Portland.
14-16 July 2023 – (SG)(D)
Join us on a special weekend trip away in Southwestern Victoria, as we traverse on the ‘freight’ only line to Portland.

Join us for an exciting day our aboard our heritage train. With both day trips and convenient short shuttles, there is something for the whole family!
You’ll enjoy the sights and sounds of our two historic locomotives while taking in the passing countryside on the rarely travelled Portland Branch

Warrnambool Royal Train Shuttle

The Seymour Railway Heritage Centre (SRHC) would like to invite you onboard for one of our summer shuttle day trips with our wooden bodied heritage train carriages dating back to as early as 1906. Experience travel in the immaculately restored Victorian State Car No 4 that once carried Royalty and the iconic Yarra Parlor Car as well as the original 1937 Spirit of Progress Dining Car.
Leaving Warrnambool station, we climb above Lady Bay with spectacular vistas before making our way through the vast dairy region of southwest Victoria. Enjoy a barista coffee or a refreshing drink and snack from the two kiosk cars on board our train before our train arrives to Boorcan where our heritage diesel-electric locomotives from the 1960’s / 1980’s will run around our train so as to lead us back to Warrnambool.

Key Information
The Seymour Railway Heritage Centre advises customers to be at the departing station around 15 minutes to departure.
Passengers joining us at Melbourne Flinders Street* or Southern Cross Station. Please note that our services are under ‘Special‘. Please feel free to ask V/Line or Metro Train staff to guide you to the relevant platform prior to depature.
*Only applicable for Gippsland bound tours / charters

Legend / Glossary
- (D) – Diesel Hauled Service
- (S) – Steam Hauled Service
- (SG) – Standard Gauge
- (BG) – Broad Gauge
Wooden Bodied Carriages (with majority is on Broad Gauge) are limited to 80kph across the entire V/Line network.
Steel Bodied Carriages (with majority is on Standard Gauge) are able to reach speeds of 115kph*.
The SRHC will do everything to make sure the tours are running onto the scheduled times listed on the tours, but our heritage trains are subjected to the V/Line Network which has priority over us.
*Subject to the locomotive hauling the train and permitted track speed limits.
