Dunkeld / Portland

Join our Special Portland / Dunkeld train on the weekend of 11 to 13 November 2022.

Travel from Seymour, Melbourne Southern Cross, North Shore (Geelong) to Hamilton, Portland and return

Travel from Portland, Hamilton or Heywood to Dunkeld and enjoy the Day at the Dunkeld Cup.


Tocumwal Christmas Train

The Seymour Railway Heritage Railway invites you on a Heritage Train tour to the Tocumwal travelling in historic comfort on Saturday 3 December!

Enjoy a pleasant stroll along the Banks of the Murray in the NSW town of Tocumwal and take the opportunity to visit the local shops and Hotels for lunch.  Maybe even do some last minute Christmas shopping.


SRHC Heritage Shuttles

Enjoy a ride on the SRHC Heritage train between Hamilton – Dunkeld, Portland – Heywood. Several shuttles are available and you can enjoy a leisurely return ride or one-way only


Key Information

The Seymour Railway Heritage Centre advises customers to be at the departing station around 15 minutes to departure. 

Passengers joining us at Melbourne Flinders Street* or Southern Cross Station. Please note that our services are under ‘Special‘. Please feel free to ask V/Line or Metro Train staff to guide you to the relevant platform prior to depature.

*Only applicable for Gippsland bound tours / charters

  • (D) – Diesel Hauled Service
  • (S) – Steam Hauled Service
  • (SG) – Standard Gauge
  • (BG) – Broad Gauge

Wooden Bodied Carriages (with majority is on Broad Gauge) are limited to 80kph across the entire V/Line network. 

Steel Bodied Carriages (with majority is on Standard Gauge) are able to reach speeds of 115kph*.

The SRHC will do everything to make sure the tours are running onto the scheduled times listed on the tours, but our heritage trains are subjected to the V/Line Network which has priority over us. 

*Subject to the locomotive hauling the train and permitted track speed limits.
